Lullaby Song
So wish, so wish, and I will wish with you
To sleep, to sleep, our day will soon be through
And if the night will grant our wish of sleep
We’ll dream, we’ll dream, of oceans warm and deep
Be still, be still, and let my swaying arms
Surround, surround, and keep you safe from harm
And if the night is still it will surround
Our hearts, our hearts, within a silent sound
So shine, so shine, as heaven’s brightest star
Tonight, tonight, although it may seem far
For if its light will shine on us tonight
In peace, in peace, the glow of love is bright
Sweet song, sweet song of love that glows so bright
In peace, in peace, sleep peacefully tonight
Sister and the Rain
My sister made a picnic lunch one day
And walked with me beneath a sunny sky
To where a field was wide, not far away,
At least not with my sister by my side.
We ate our lunch and then she sang a song
About a boy who stole a young girl’s heart.
She sang it twice so I could sing along
Although I don’t remember every part.
Then as we headed home a storm appeared
And started crying raindrops from a cloud
My sister said, “It’s just as I had feared,
My song was much too sad to sing aloud.”
And so we stood beneath an ancient tree
And waited for the storm’s end, silently.
